Driving Standards Agency Chief Executive Rosemary Thew, one of the keynote speakers at a highly successful seminar on women's safety, hosted at Shirley Golf Club in Solihull. The first 'DriveSafe and StaySafe' luncheon event was organised by DriveSafe, the Birmingham-based initiative, set up originally to improve the safety knowledge and skills of Britain's 15-million women drivers. Other speeches were made by Dr Lisa Dorn, reader in driver behaviour at Cranfield University; Jo Cameron, former BBC 'Apprentice'; Gurjeet Baines, editor of The Sikh Times and first female chairwoman of the Institute of Asian Businesses; Patricia Murtagh, chair of the local project group responsible for transporting competitors and spectators for the 2012 Olympics; and Diane Benussi, a leading divorce lawyer. Fay Goodman, director of Goodmedia Ltd and founder of DriveSafe, also demonstrated some personal protection skills at the well-received event.
